Report pollution

If you see pollution to a river, stream or other waterway, report it immediately to the Environment Agency using their 24-hour hotline: 0800 80 70 60

Signs of pollution include:

• Dead fish or fish gasping for air or other river wildlife in distress
• Large amounts of oil or foam
• Bad or chemical odour
• Discoloured water
• Large amounts of litter or sewage debris

The Environment Agency receive many pollution reports and only prioritise the most serious. If the incident you have reported worsens or continues for several days, call the Environment Agency again on 0800 80 70 60.

Please also report the issue directly to Thames Water using their online report a problem tool.

The Thames Water online tool can also be used to report sewers leaking, blockages and broken manhole covers. You can view current issues on an online map.

They should attend an issue within 2 hours of a report.
