River levels

River levels are monitored at Environment Agency gauging stations every 15 minutes.

On the portal, if the map date is today then the Real Time flood-monitoring API is used, before today we use the Hydrology Data Explorer API.

Typical high and low ranges are retrieved from the station's metadata.
